BIOGRAPHY
Monica Lisa was born in Atlanta, Georgia into a talented family of singers. The eldest of six children, she and her siblings were raised in Wetumpka, Alabama, where they were inspired, encouraged, and trained by their parents, the late George Bowen and Pearlie Ellis.
After returning to Atlanta in 1986, she began to minister in song and organized Lisa Stevenson & Company in 1997. Monica Lisa was licensed as minister of the gospel in 1998. Since then she has traveled, shared and sang background with such recording artists as the legendary Caravans, Kathy Taylor, Canton Spirituals, Angie Spivey, Evangelist Dorothy Norwood, Elder Kervy Brown, Dottie Peoples, The Williams Brothers, Nancy Jackson, Prophetess Juanita Bynum, Darlene McCoy and countless others. Monica Lisa is well respected in the local and national gospel music industry.
Monica Lisa has a litany of achievements and experiences in various fields. She is a nationally recognized worshipper that takes joy in singing for a variety of audiences, performing at several events such as, Dr. Bobby Jones Birthday Celebration, Atlanta Live, Atlanta Gospel Choice Awards, Sweet Auburn Festival, Dogwood Festival, and For Sisters Only, GCA Lexus Event, just to name a few. She is very active in the local and national Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA).
IIn 2007, she received two nominations for the Atlanta Gospel Choice Awards for “New Artist of the Year” and “Best Female Artist of the year”. In 2008, she received the Best Female Artist Award., 2009 Song of the Year Award, She was a recipient for the 2008 Be Sickle Smart competition for the Sickle Cell Foundation, where her song “Lord Keep Me” is featured on the compilation project. She was blessed to record and release her first debut single in April 2007. She released her first debut album, entitled “Finally… In God’s Time” ,March 2009.
She is the proud mother of four children, Qwenton, Khalon, D’errica and Derrick, Jr., and a dedicated wife to Mr. Derrick Stevenson who is also her music director and producer and a great part in her musical career. She is a devoted member of the New Life International Family Church, where the Bishop Dr. Jeronn C. Williams is her pastor.
Monica Lisa’s path has been guided by Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path … day by day.
